Singing sensation and darling of the TV talent show, Richard Hadfield will debut his solo sound with a unique pre-Christmas gig in the heart of Soho.
PizzaExpress Live will play host to the UK number one album-selling vocalist and winner of Britain’s Got Talent 2014 on the 10th December for a sweet-sounding lunchtime set, which will showcase the singer’s appetite for a swinging sax and bluesy bass.
Richard took some time out of his busy schedule to take our Sweet London Life, quick fire Sugar Rush quiz.
What are you currently working on?
I’m currently working on new music! I have a great band and rehearsals are going well.
What is the one thing that has helped you to become successful?
My girlfriend. I really couldn’t have done most of this without her. We’ve been together three years now so she’s seen me through it all. To have that continued support and bubbly attitude surrounding me has been incredible.
What is your favourite Book?
My favourite book has to be ‘Gone Girl’. A friend suggested it to me and I just was glued to each page.
What are you currently watching on TV?
I’ve just finished the first season of Humans. Binge watched it because I saw the new advert for the second season and it looked incredible! Just got to wait until the end of the month for it to come out now!
Would you choose the cinema, theatre or a restaurant for a night out?
Well I adore food. A little too much I think so restaurants almost always go hand in hand with either cinema or theatre. I actually went to the theatre last night to see a play called nerve in Greenwich. Live theatre is definitely the best.
What’s your favourite sweet?
I currently have such a craving for Reece’s peanut butter cups. Literally little slices of heaven.
What did you want to be when you were a child?
I wanted to be a professional rugby player. Still play rugby now. Sadly I got a bad case of shin splints playing for southeast England. Luckily singing karaoke in the rugby club paid off!
What was the naughtiest thing you did when you were a child?
I remember when I was about 7/8 I stole a pack of Pokemon cards from M&S. My mum caught me unwrapping them in the car on the way home.
What is your proudest achievement to date?
My proudest achievement has to selling out the Royal Albert Hall. It was just an unbelievable experience that I’ll never forget.
I have some huge exciting plans that are actually in talks today and a project that I’ve been working on for 6 months is about to be released. Otherwise I’m working towards my big Christmas show in Soho. I have so much new music plus I’m currently writing some original pieces to! It’s an incredibly exciting time but all can’t be revealed just yet!
Richard Hadfield will be performing at PizzaExpress Live on 10th December at 1pm (doors open at 12pm). If you would like any further details you can visit the website
